Ask HN: Refusing to join meetings that require proprietary programs

From now on I've made the conscious decision to stop joining meetings that requires installing the usual proprietary applications (Zoom, Skype, BlueJeans, etc).

I will accept joining Hangout calls even though it's also proprietary, but at least it doesn't require that I run a random executable on my personal computer.

Is anyone else also doing this? What are the challenges you had to face? I am well aware going this direction also means losing a few potential clients.
